Fraser and I were camping out in Baviaanskloof a few years ago and I was getting my daily ‘fix’ of drumming on a Djembe Drum I’d made, something I did every day to feel happy & relaxed.
We’d just had a lovely fresh swim in the river and Fraser was brewing some tea over the fire. I had my eyes closed and was just enjoying the moment with the Drum sounds echoing off the cliffs on the opposite side of the river.
After about 10 minutes I opened my eyes, and just above me about 3 meters up on a rocky outcrop, there was a troop of Baboons – some very large – intently watching me
They were all leaning forward and just watching me drum.
I just kept my eyes open and carried on drumming looking at them looking at me
After about 5 minutes they decided to leave
